Maybe it's the area I live in, but people here generally don't talk to other shoppers while shopping. But different activities can lend themselves to meeting people more easily.

One of the things I love about where I live is that nobody ever bothers me. It's a very elitist feeling place for people that are not from here. We don't wave on the road when someone lets us in, we just keep to ourselves.

I've learned to really appreciate this. I had a business trip to El Paso recently and I was in the elevator and some random was asking me what I do for a living. Leave me the fuck alone, that's what I do! hehe

I have to be in a mood to flip the extrovert switch, honestly. I'm perfectly happy just keeping to myself most times. I used to travel frequently for work and it got exhausting talking to people randomly so I would put earbuds in even if I wasn't using them, and people would leave me alone.

I have a hat I bought off the old ar15.com store that has the BFL logo. I
wear it everywhere. On occasion people who are members to the site approach
me and ask where I got the hat. Arfcom is a website and forums and at any given time there are up to 5000 members active online. I can go shopping,
and someone will ask about the hat. If I go to a music festival, someone
asks about it. I was at the farm supply, and some woman asked me to stay
put, then drags her husband over so he can see I have a hat. When Brownells bought out the site, their merchandising changed. Another funny thing is
after that initial encounter, I see these people more often, and we've
planned get togethers through the website to hang out in person. If you spend
enough time on the board, the people do not feel like strangers.

Yeah, I guess I go through phases. If someone is genuinely trying to talk to me, I try to be polite at all times.

I think my introversion really set in in 2019. For 50 weeks of that year I spent a portion of the workweek on the road, typically to multiple destinations, and frequently abroad. It was so exhausting that I really gave up on most human contact and cocooned myself with my airpods and sunglasses. This has probably persisted in my personality a bit.

i'm sure approaching someone when they are shopping is totally NOT
    creepy.

Depends on many factors. A big one is what type of shopping you're doing. Shopping for groceries? Probably not a great place to try and strike up a conversation. Shopping for flowers and plants at a nursery? It's fun to
talk about what plants grow well, what flowers accentuate a flower box,
etc. I've already mentioned how great talking to people while book shopping
can be. A board game shop can be fantastic, it's possible to meet people to join in on game night or someone that you can talk to about a game and get
to know each other without either person having to think about anything
else except for a fun shared experience.

    also traveling alone is creepy.

That statement is just plain silly. A lot of people travel alone, whether
it's because of work, events, family. Single people travel all the time,
whether by themselves or with family or friends (like a girls trip to
Vegas!). Traveling alone or traveling while single can be absolutely
thrilling, it's already like an adventure. Meeting someone while on an
adventure? That leads to wonderful stories that a person can tell for a
    lifetime!

It's a really really good hammer. When i worked in a foundry I used it to break part castings all day long. so the hammer combined with me being able to swing it like that makes it dangerous. Also most people can't shoot and it takes time to pull out a gun and get it ready and shoot it. if you close the distance you are at hand to hand.

Yep. If I wanted to go somewhere but didn't have anyone to go with, I wouldn't wait around to go with someone. I want to live life, and I'd
go travel alone if nobody went with me.

    Word!

In my late 20s, I was lucky enough to go to Amsterdam for six weeks for
work. It was one of the best adventures of my life. I hit all the major attractions, a bunch of the minor ones, ate in what seemed like every restaurant in the city, rode through the canals on a tour boat, went out

    Such an adventure!

Shooting is an option for self defense. If you're out investigating a noise, then the other guy's lawyer would say you were out hunting their client. If the other person turned out to be unarmed, claiming to be "in fear of
imminent death" is hard to convince a jury especially if you're a big and tall store customer.

It's still considered hunting to the prosecutor. You're the one being tried for killing a person on your property. If it doesn't look like a clear, justified excercise of self protection, the law is not always on your side.
In Texas, they have laws that allow you to kill people on your premises after sundown if caught removing personal property. That is based on a cattle rustling law. Even then someone that is trespassing cannot be killed because they're on your property.

The "other guy's lawyer" will come in the civil suit depending on the
verdict. I'm sure it wouldn't bode well for you if you bashed in some punk's head with a hammer. The forensics guys aren't on either side. They tell it like they see it.

This reminds me when my ex and I split and I was so utterly depressed I could barely function and I had a work trip to Romania for about three weeks. Let's just say Bucharest was very kind to my broken American heart at the time. It turned out to be a memorable and amazing trip which helped pull me out of my funk quick. And I visited places I would likely never have heard of otherwise.

Contrast with a realtor friend who can strike up a conversation with anyone, and without breaking a sweat end up finding clients, or someone to buy a friend's car, or a landscaper. It's uncanny.

Marketing (at least with regards to personal branding) is all about discovering a problem that the customer has, finding and fixing a customer's problem for a price, and picking a niche to make you the biggest player in the market - at least in the beginning.

If your target niche is "Personal Companionship for Female Babylon 5 Cosplayers", good luck.

    Yes and no.

The market is saturated to the point most problems in need for a solution are solved.
Being able to provide a solution for a problem is no longer enough. You need to come
across as the best problem solver for the price. That is actually harder than BEING
the best problem solver for the price.

At that stage you need to start playing with people's emotions because once all the
technical caracteristics of the product and its value proposal are maxed, the only
thing you can do is play mind tricks to stand out.

Niches are becoming saturated themselves. Yesterday you could have a generalistic
travel agency. Today you need a travel agency specialized in a given country. Tomorrow
you need a travel agency that is centered on specific cities. There is only so much
space in the market for general solutions anymore, but the niche space is becoming
cramped. If it is profitable to dig up, it is being taken already.

No, we cannot contain a contagious disease in our ultra-connected world. It just takes one person who doesn't know they have a disease to go through
any major airport and the chance of containment is lost. The next hope is
to slow down the spread of the disease through lockdown. This actually
